At SOUBRAZ, we offer a comprehensive range of Babbit Metal anti-friction alloys, designed to ensure optimum lubrication, high wear resistance and long bearing life in the most demanding industrial environments.
Our anti-friction metals are formulated to meet international standards and are suitable for a wide variety of mechanical applications, whether for maintenance, reconditioning or new manufacture of plain bearings.
What is Babbit Metal?
Babbit is an antifriction alloy based on tin or lead, enriched with copper and antimony, offering an excellent compromise between hardness, elasticity and mechanical compatibility. It is cast in a thin layer on a support (steel, bronze or cast iron) to form an ideal sliding surface.
We offer two main families:

| Référence | Type de base | Composition typique | Dureté (HB) | Temp. fusion approx. | Applications |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SB-TIN | Étamée (Sn-based) | Sn 92%, Cu 4.5%, Sb 3.5% | 22 – 25 HB | ~240 °C | Machines à grande vitesse, turbines |
| SB-LEAD | Plombée (Pb-based) | Pb 83%, Sb 10%, Sn 7% | 15 – 20 HB | ~320 °C | Maintenance, moteurs lents |
| SB-SPECIAL* | Formule client | Sur demande | Variable | Sur demande | Paliers spéciaux, rechargement |
Our antifriction alloys are manufactured from rigorously selected raw materials, in compliance with the strictest metallurgical tolerances.
Each batch is spectrometrically controlled to ensure consistency of composition and performance.
